According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol a 2014 Chevy Traverse, driven by 38 year old Gerardo Arellano of McMinnville was traveling on Old Kentucky Road when a 2014 Honda Civic, driven by 57 year old Renee Trusty of Sparta, was traveling southbound, crossed the center line and struck Arellano. He was not injured.
Trusty was partially ejected when her vehicle rolled after the impact. She was not wearing a seatbelt and died from her injuries. Arellano’s vehicle also rolled and came to rest on the passenger side. He was wearing his seatbelt.
